A New Future for Robinwood

We are very pleased to announce that Robinwood became an employee-owned company on 22nd November 2024.

Having developed the company from small beginnings, operating our first courses in Todmorden in 1994 with 8 staff and no more than 30 children attending, the Robinwood directors’ highest priority when looking to step back, was to ensure the vision and values of Robinwood continued into the future.

The directors wanted to ensure that, having been created based on a strong vision and all-encompassing values, Robinwood continued to thrive and develop on this basis, and remained ‘Robinwood’. With this in mind, there was only one real option that they were in favour of.

During more than 30 years of operation, our staff team has been central to our success, so they were really pleased to be able to transfer ownership to the staff team under the new leadership of Anna King.

Anna has been with Robinwood for more than 20 years having started as a Group Leader with us in 2001 and having spent the last 12 years as part of the Leadership Team. Anna has embraced her new role as Head of Robinwood taking over from our founder Martin and continues to lead with the same shared vision and values.

What does being employee-owned mean to our customers? It means continuing to deliver the industry-leading courses you know and love, whilst growing towards a better and brighter future.

What does it mean to our staff and for future staff? It means you have a part to play in shaping Robinwood, it means you have ownership of a company that lives up to the hype. Delivering the very best adventure & themed residentials the UK has to offer. It means continuing (as we have for over 30 years) to make a really positive difference developing children.

Staff Engagement Team

Staff consultation has always been a big part of how Robinwood operates, so in many ways employee ownership was a very natural step for us. Forming a team of elected staff from each of our centres and from our head office allows us to hear what matters to everyone across the team.

Board of Trustee Directors

Robinwood’s board of trustee directors is made up of 3 elected employee representatives from across our centres as well as 3 leadership members and an external trustee. This team oversees the operation of Robinwood, to help ensure we offer the very best provision for both staff and customers, whilst maintaining the strong financial performance required to do this.

Leadership Team

Our Leadership Team have been the decision-makers at Robinwood for many years and continue to be so now we are employee-owned. Through their direction and clear leadership, Robinwood will keep going from strength to strength.
