Make a Really Positive Difference

A Living Wage Employer

Making a commitment to our staff by being a Living Wage Employer is something we feel passionate about. The whole team, regardless of age, do an incredible job developing children and deserves the fairest pay possible. Therefore, we do not discriminate based on age or offer apprenticeship schemes. This makes us the industry leaders in pay.

Group Leader Starting Pay

The starting wage for a Robinwood Group Leader in 2025 is £12.50, increasing to £12.60 in May. For a Group Leader on a 36 hour per week contract this is £23,400 a year and will be your gross pay, not pro rata, and has no hidden deductions.

For Group Leaders starting at our Barhaugh Hall centre, pay starts at £12.90 per hour in January 2025 and increases to £13.00 in May 2025. This works out at £24,149 per year based on 36 hours per week.

All new starters begin training on a 33 HPW contract. You can increase or decrease this to suit your needs, after the six-week training period. We use an annualised hours system to ensure that you receive a consistent monthly wage, regardless of differences in your monthly work hours. Your permanent, year-round contract provides financial stability, helping you plan for the future.

Bonuses and Progression

Due to our brilliant bonus systems, your income will be greater than the numbers above and there is also a 17.5% increase in pay on any weekend hours that are worked after induction training is completed.

Our staff team make all the difference in the quality of courses we offer, so we are very happy to share our profits with them. The Profit Bonus is a share of our annual profit and in 2023 we paid an average profit bonus of more than £1,000 each, to everyone (just over 250 members of staff) who helped us achieve our 2022 profit. Our fantastic Recommend Robinwood programme earns you money for friends and colleagues who are interviewed, with a £400 payment for every successful applicant.

We love supporting our staff in their personal development. Recognising strengths and giving individuals an opportunity to use them is something we pride ourselves in. Group Leaders can gain additional increments to their role through promotion opportunities and support from your line manager will be key to your progression into more senior positions.

Benefits for Everyone

Our catering teams provide balanced, filling meals and cater for all dietary requirements. All are free of charge and will fuel you up for a busy day with excited children. There are no hidden charges in our staff provision!

Why not start the day with a sausage sandwich or a bowl of cereal? Top yourself up at lunchtime with a salad bar buffet and settle down at tea time to a hot evening meal. It’s one less thing for you to organise and pay for, and we know it makes a big difference to your working day.

Because many of our staff choose to have a long career with us, we’re proud to offer a House Purchase Assistance Scheme. This allows you to apply for an interest-free loan of £2000 which we pay to your solicitor when you exchange house contracts. You can apply for this after the completion of your first 3 months with us.

For staff joining us at our Barhaugh Hall centre in Alston, we offer a relocation allowance of £1200. This centre is our most remote and we appreciate the increased likelihood of staff needing to relocate to work here and the cost that can be involved in that. Any new Group Leader moving to live within a 45 minute commute of Barhaugh Hall can apply for this and we encourage you to discuss this with us as you progress through your application.

Award-winning Provision

Our fantastic staff provision has won numerous awards. These awards mean more than trophies on a shelf and wall plaques. They are proof that we are as good as our word. Delivering on what we say we do, not only leads to higher staff retention but also to happier customers and a stronger business.

Gaining awards and recognition is one of the many ways we hold ourselves accountable to achieving the provision we put in place for our staff. Read on to what our awards and accreditations mean for you.

Investors In People

This accreditation is awarded to organisations that have demonstrated their commitment to their staff. It assures you that the training and development commitments we set out actually happen. Our line manager support, wellbeing commitment, and staff benefits (among other areas), are all tested through this award and contribute to an engaged team in a happy, healthy workplace.

Living Wage Foundation

The real Living Wage is higher than the minimum rate set by the government as it is independently calculated based on what people need to earn to get by. This accreditation means that we promise to pay our staff a fair wage based on the current cost of living at that time, and we are held accountable through the Living Wage Foundation.

The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom

This national charity is committed to creating more opportunities for children to have developmental experiences outside of the school environment. They challenge and support to us to deliver the best courses possible. This accreditation demonstrates to our staff that we are fully dedicated to making a positive impact on every school that visits.
