Support Assistant - Maes y Nant

Maes y Nant Children’s Activity Centre near Wrexham is looking for 2 Support Assistants to work around 8 hours every Wednesday during term time only.
Pay £12 per hour (rising to £12.50 from January 2025), paid all year round through annualised hours.
The Role
In this role you would be helping get the children up and ready for their day at the activity centre, mealtime supervision and providing support for groups of children during and between sessions. This will include helping with harnesses and helmet fitting, provision of waterproofs and other Robinwood equipment, and other supervisory tasks such as leading games. We are wanting staff who can assist with our Zip Wire activity, helping to remove children at the end of the line. Full training and assessment will be given for this task. In the summer months there will be some support for our watersports activity Raft Building in this role.
Mealtime supervision will play a key part in this role and you could be supervising school groups of up to 50 children.
Some previous work with children is useful, as well as excellent customer care skills and the ability to be positive, professional and supportive of others at all times. We take safeguarding very seriously and the successful applicants will need to complete an enhanced DBS check.

Working Week
Working Wednesdays, generally in school term time, 36 weeks a year
This contract will involve working 36 Wednesdays throughout the year, generally in school term time, with 12 weeks off. Typical shifts could be working from 7.00pm to 5.00 pm.
The Centre
Set in the beautiful Welsh countryside just outside of Wrexham, the original building dates back to the late Victorian era when it was built as a private house in around 1870.
Its name Maes-y-Nant when translated means ‘house by a stream’. Although the stream remains, the old owners would struggle to recognise it now as the site has been transformed with purpose-built facilities to provide an amazing Robinwood experience.
