Make a Really Positive Difference
Work-Life Balance Tailored to You
One of the things that makes us stand out in this industry is that we only offer permanent year-round contracts. We balance your hours across the year meaning that you get paid every month, even when we’re on holiday.
We know that people like having a routine. It means we can join clubs and plan for life outside of work. That’s why we aim to set our team’s timetables and give at least two consecutive days off every week. Whether you are planning to head home to see family, gather friends together to go on an adventure or become a Scout leader, you will always be able to see your timetable 5 weeks in advance and know your set timetabled days ongoing.
Through conversations during the recruitment process and with your line manager when you start, we will work hard to find a timetable that suits you. This could include you choosing to reduce or increase the hours you work a week which you are able to do from week 6 of your employment to get the right balance.
We also offer you an impressive 12 weeks off each year. Your primary holiday periods will fall in August, Christmas, and Easter, with 3 weeks (February, May/June, and October) reserved for half terms. With lots of opportunities for rest and adventure, how do you plan on spending your time off? You’ll be spoilt for choice when you see where our centres are located…
Barhaugh Hall
Our most northern centre and it is perfectly placed for those wanting the Lake District right on their doorstep. It is on the Northumbrian and Cumbrian border leaving you spoilt for choice with the Scottish borders, Newcastle and numerous mountains and lakes to choose from for weekend adventuring.
Dobroyd Castle
Set in the market town of Todmorden in West Yorkshire and is surrounded by hills and moorlands, inviting walkers and runners to explore for miles. The town also sits on the Leeds to Manchester train line and is perfect for those who like to touch base with the city life. It doesn’t take too long to journey to the Peak District for climbing and walking adventures too.
Maes y Nant
Sitting just over the border into Wales and is located just outside of Wrexham. Snowdonia is the staff team’s back garden here with plenty of climbing, walking, running and paddling locations to choose from. There is the added lure of the north Wales coastline being a stone’s throw away.
Fully Invested in You
We take the wellbeing of our staff team seriously. We strive to make a difference to our team by making sure they feel listened to, supported and have a workload that works.
Through a consultation with the staff at the centres, we found out the things that make a difference to them at work. We have pledged a Wellbeing Commitment that covers 12 key areas. These include timetable shift patterns, at least two consecutive days off a week, line manager support, holidays and communication.
Values Based Recruitment
As soon as you submit your application, you’ll have all the information you need to ensure we’re the right fit for you. Our recruitment team are on hand to answer all your questions and you’ll start receiving support from your centre as soon as you accept your job offer.
We have a central team that runs your induction training. During this time, they will be on hand to help you settle into Group Leader life with your fellow trainees. The bond you create with the team you start with can last a lifetime and the support you offer each other during training is priceless.
Supported from the Start
Once you start, you will have regular contact with your Line Manager. They will be a key person in your career with us. Their primary focus is to create a positive workplace for you. They will observe your activity sessions, provide you with supportive feedback and help you work towards your goals, and are on hand for you to talk to if you need other support. Sometimes what you need might be out of their remit and they may advise you to use one of our two external support services.
It is always great to get genuine praise and recognition for the fantastic work you do. At Robinwood, we do this in a variety of different ways. In our staff surveys ran throughout year, we ask for you to vote for the Best Site Worker, Best at Supporting and Most Enthusiastic and Positive members from your team.
Even more peer recognition is seen through our system where our staff can send individual praise to each other. Your line manager receives a copy of this praise, allowing them to see the wonderful things you are doing too. We believe this builds a stronger team culture and supports our work with the schools that visit us.
Friendship and Fun
Group Leaders are appointed based on their values. One of the fantastic benefits of this is that our staff are always around like-minded people. Biking, bushcraft, board games or baking, you name it, someone will be interested in it too. Our staff team come from so many different backgrounds that you will be sure of finding some common ground. Creating a welcoming, understanding and fun staff team.
